               The Savior’s Love and Grace

In the quietness and stillness, as we sat,

We heard the power of God’s truth spoken to us.

Understanding the greatness of salvation and recognizing sin,

We felt a renewal of the Savior’s love and grace.

Oh That I Would Ever Wonder

Oh why is it, that I would ever wonder, how You know
Each person’s need, each person’s hurt, each person’s heart.
Why oh why is it that I would ever wonder how You know.
You are so faithful, so true.
Giving constant abiding love.
Unspoken to anyone, You hear the small voices inside the heart.
You hear the cry of Your child.
And in ways so gentle you work, You speak.
We have to listen or we will not hear or see.
The need is met, the heart and the hurts are comforted.
Love is given, love is shown.
Comforting the cry of Your child.
Oh, why is it that I would ever wonder how You know.                                                                                                                           Gay Nell Olive

A Sacrifice So Amazing

Praise

When I Survey The Wondrous Cross

1 When I survey the wondrous cross
on which the Prince of Glory died,
my richest gain I count but loss,
and pour contempt on all my pride.

2 Forbid it, Lord, that I should boast,
save in the death of Christ my God!
All the vain things that charm me most,
I sacrifice them to His blood.

3 See from His head, His hands, His feet,
sorrow and love flow mingled down!
Did e’er such love and sorrow meet,
or thorns compose so rich a crown?

4 Were the whole realm of nature mine,
that were a present far too small;
love so amazing, so divine,
demands my soul, my life, my all.

Accept Who I Am Today

Photography, Poetry, Praise

3D402826-7711-4730-AB68-E48835DF8198

How do I thank you for coming and being born as a baby.
To give hope, love, grace, mercy and light to all who receive you.
So much love and grace I know you have given to others and to me.
I wonder what it is that I can do to show your love.
Many years you have given me and so thankful for that I am.
Independence is what I long for but it never seems to come.
Maybe acceptance is what I need to do.

Accept Who I Am Today, what I can do today.
Start each day with renewed strength in You.
That the day has been given me to serve You by serving others.
Thank You God, for giving us love and light through your Son.
Give me strength to do all You want me to do.
And to Accept Who I Am Today.

It’s Given Freely To Those That You Treat

Poetry, Praise

When you care for us.

You see, listen and care.

Warm compassion and understanding is felt.

Not something that you have learned.

This is sharing something of you.

Given freely to those that you treat.

Your heart we do see as we sit before you.

Through the gentleness and kindness of each thing you do.

The beauty you have in your heart.

Radiates the love you have for your Lord.

Thank you for sharing that love.

When you treat me.

Lonely Bench

Reflecting back to early summer,  I remembered taking pictures of my peony bush.  I love the peony bloom.  This year for the first time, I noticed how beautiful the bloom is as it is loosing all of the petals.

Giving God the Glory

Praise

Being Thankful in all Things

As I have shared my experiences with many people, I have heard and been told many stories of how God has worked in some one’s life.  There is nothing God cannot do if we let Him.  We are to be thankful for all things.  We often do not understand our circumstances but if we trust Jesus we can be certain that the best of the situation will occur.   Being human, it may be hard for us to understand how it could be the best, but our trust and faith in Jesus assures us that we will be taken care of and that things will work out for the Glory of God, which is what we desire as Christians.   In  2 Corinthians 4:15,  we read , Indeed, everything is for your benefit, so that grace, extended through more and more people, may cause thanksgiving to increase to God’s glory.  (HCSB)

I Thank You Lord

Poetry, Praise, Thoughts Today

This is a poem of praise I wrote several years after the event that left me in a mind and body I did not know.  I knew if I did not do everything I could on each day I had been given, I was dishonoring God for giving me that day.  So this is not a recent event I am writing about, but I just decided to share it publicly.  My journey to this point has been long, and it was accomplished only with His help.

i thnak you Lord

Gloria In Excelsis

Praise

“Angels We Have Heard On High (Traditional)”

Angels we have on heard high
Sweetly singing ore the plains
And the mountains in reply
Echoing their joyous strains

Gloria in excelsis Deo
Gloria in excelsis Deo

Come to Bethlehem and see
Christ whose birth the angels sing
Come adore on bended knee
Christ the Lord the newborn King

Gloria in excelsis Deo
Gloria in excelsis Deo

See him in a manger laid
Whom the choirs of angels praise
Mary, Joseph, lend your aid
While our hearts in love we raise

Gloria in excelsis Deo
Gloria, in excelsis Deo
Gloria in Excelsis Deo

Information from Wikipedia:

Angels We Have Heard On High is a Christmas carol of French origin , author unknown, in the public domain. The song commemorates the story of the birth of Jesus Christ found in the Gospel of Luke, in which shepherds outside Bethlehem encounter a multitude of angels singing and praising the newborn child.

WILD FLOWER SHRUB–AMERICAN BEAUTYBERRY

Photography
AMERICAN BLUEBERRY

CALLICARPA AMERICANA (The following taken from the WIKIPEDIA) The raw berries, while palatably sweet, are suitable for human consumption only in small amounts, because they are astringent; they are also used in jellies. The roots are used to make herbal tea. As a folk remedy it has been claimed that “fresh, crushed leaves of American beautyberry, Callicarpa americana . . . helped keep biting insects away from animals such as horses and mules.”[2] An isolated plant compound, callicarpenal, has reportedly been proven effective in tests as a mosquito repellent.[3] The berries ripen in September through October and are a favorite among wild bird species including cardinals, mockingbirds, finches, woodpeckers and more. Beautyberry is commonly planted in landscape designs to attract wildlife because of the food source the berries provide and the cover animals get from the shrub itself.

ALL THAT YOU NEED

Praise

ALL THAT YOU NEED

If words could heal.
And bring you comfort.
I would fill the page full.
I would write to there was no end.
To ease the pain.
I know you are in.

Prayers so many are being prayed.
For you just now.
We all hurt, we all care.
Look up to God above.
Your heart and mind He does love.
Peace and comfort He can give.

Tell Him all about how you feel.
He cares so much for you.
Your pain and hurt will still be there.
But easier you will find.
To carry the burden and the load.
That your heart fills.

Let go, look up and take His hand.
Let Him walk beside you.
Or carry you if you need Him to.
Just call Him by His name.
You will know that you are in His care.
And that is all that you need.

Natural Beauty Inside and Out

Poetry

What a joy to see her walk into a room.
Brings sunshine and smiles everywhere.
One person so full of love.
Sharing the sweet kindness given her.
A jewel she is, given to us.
With radiant beauty to brighten all our ways.
Looking always upward to her Father above.
Showing us where her strength does lie.
A jewel she is ,given to us.
Natural beauty inside and out.

TWISTED VINES AND TWISTED ROADS

Poetry

Twisted Vines/Twisted Roads

Twisted vines in all directions

How do you know where to go

Up and up the trellis you climb

No end it seems you can find

Flowers pretty on the vine

Leaving sights and smells to behold

Have I flowered on my twisted road

Given beauty to behold

Twisted our roads in life may be

Going, it seems, in all directions

Upward, forward, reaching for the goal

Always more to be done

Looking backward on our vine

What is it that we see

Flowers of love and kindness

Fragrance to be remembered

Times with dried blooms

Weak and non-producing

Restoration we had to receive

Never broken from our source of strength

Your flower is gone but beauty remains

As on the trellis you do cling

Our lives are much the same

Hoping beauty remains

The beauty of sharing God’s love

Given freely to everyone

With the fragrance of kindness

On twisted vines and twisted roads

Beauty and Sparkle

Praise

Beauty and sparkle we like to behold.
Tho in different packages diamonds do come.
Their beauty and sparkle remains.

Tho different our packaging and presentation may be.
Certain it is to our Creator.
Our beauty and sparkle is the same.

Damage sometimes the diamond can get.
Scratches or rough edges.
And polishing the jeweler must do.

Sometimes our lives may be damaged.
Filled with hurt or dismay.
Only the Creator can repair.

Filled with love for everyone.
He takes our cares and makes them His.
Our beauty and sparkle remains.

GARDEN GRAZING

Poetry

My friend has taught me some finer things in life.
Things I did not know I was missing.

Garden grazing is one of those things
Sounds so very strange to my ears.

Without my friend I could not manage.
Helping me with so many things.

Hard aches and trials she does have.
Ones you would not want to claim.

She knows the word endurance.
And what life is all about.

She has taught me some finer things in life.
Things I did not know I was missing.

Garden Grazing

Garden Grazing

Garden grazing is one of those things.
Sounds so very strange to my ears.

A tomato, I may have eaten from the vine.
Even, blueberries,blackberries ,apples and figs.

But okra ! I was in shock.
Green beans,yes green beans.

And let us not leave out peas.
Just go ahead and shell them and eat.

Some finer things in life I’ve been taught.
Things I did not know I was missing.

Garden grazing is one of those things.
Sounds so very strange to my ears.

A “Gift” Came Your Way

Poetry

Many years ago, a gift came your way.
Unexpected it was, shocking and life changing.

Challenges so many,
Were brought your way.

Forward you stepped, full of strength,
That only God can give.

Someone special it takes.
To be chosen to receive this gift.

Someone who is loving,
Caring, wise and giving.

Twenty-four/seven,non-stop resilience,
No one really understands but you.

Long it wasn’t for you to be filled with love.
Chosen for this “gift” that came your way.

I AM GOING TO SLEEP

Poetry
I AM GOING TO SLEEP Lying under the stars at night, In the warm night air. Thinking of animals, That might be near by, Caused no hesitation, For this nature lover. All wrap up as in a cocoon. Enjoying the nature God had provided. Music playing in the background. Of all the sounds of the woods. Crickets, a soothing constant. And the toad a spasmodic annoyance. Would, could sleep possibly come. Crickets constant and toads croaking. Bugs flying. What just fell? I'm relaxed. I love this. There are no animals around. I am going to sleep.

MOTHER

Praise

Josie was her name to some.
But Mother it was to me.
Strong, gentle and loving.
Working hard washing, ironing,
Cooking and cleaning,
For her husband and five children.
Three boys and two girls they were.
By example she taught,
Right from wrong,
To worship, love God,
And practice the Golden Rule.
Her light shined to everyone.
Always concerned for other’s feelings,
And wishing she could do more.
Then along came grand children,
And great grands too.
Once again her name was changed,
And changed to Momma Ray.
To Momma Ray we would go.
Sometimes just to sit and rest.
When we all were there,
Love filled the room.
Oh how blessed we all were.
To have our Momma Ray.
But Mother it was to me.

Today Is The Day

Poetry

Today, today is the day,
God made special for us.
One of three it started,
Then four and five were added.

On this day he created you.
Gave to us a life so rare.
Full of love, joy and kindness.
Serving and loving her Lord.

This is your day,
God gave you live.
Today, today is the day,
God made special for us.

Mr. Mockingbird

Poetry
Mr. Mockingbird

Mr. Mockingbird                                Gay Nell Olive

Mr. Mockingbird on the window’s ledge.

What makes you go up and down,

Pecking on my window pane?

Is it your reflection that you see?

Protecting your babies you must think,

As in their nest they lay close by.

Up and down, morning until night,

Pecking on my window pane.
