Keep Me Focused On The Purpose

While walking in my yard yesterday, I noticed an amaryllis bulb that had grown and produced a  strong stem with a richly colored bud.

Single Amaryllis Bulb Focused on Its Purpose

I knew it was  getting ready to open into a beautiful amaryllis flower. This is the first year for one stem to grow by itself. There are many more bulbs at the same spot that have not grown yet.  I was fascinated by this one amaryllis fulfilling its purpose, all alone, yet strong and beautiful. Hence the poem below:

focused on the purpose

Job 14:1-2
Man born of woman
is short of days and full of trouble.
He blossoms like a flower, then withers;
he flees like a shadow and does not last.

Hebrews 12:1-2

Therefore, since we also have such a large cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us lay aside every weight and the sin that so easily ensnares us. Let us run with endurance the race that lies before us, keeping our eyes on Jesus, the source and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that lay before Him endured a cross and despised the shame and has sat down at the right hand of God’s throne.

Proverbs 19:21

“Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the LORD that will stand.”
